Spending time with friends from the street at the TLC office

1.      It is always so much fun when the guys get together at the TLC office for a chat and a laugh. As volunteers we also get the opportunity to hear the latest gossip on the streets, who’s new and who’s doing what

New bussiness oppertunity for "the brothers"

1.      We had 2 brothers living on the streets who enrolled to join the TLC Independent Living Plan. They spent 6 months reporting to the TLC office every morning for teaching on how to do basic computer skills, dealing with conflict, handling of money, hygiene, applying for ID books and bank accounts and most of all at the end of this teaching and training the opportunity to get a paying job or in their case an opportunity to start their own business, selling talk time vouchers and cell phone starter packs. A big thank you to a business person from the community for making this opportunity possible for the guys. As a community we can make a difference. Reach one touch one

A birthday party on the street

1.      On a really happy and positive note we also celebrate the exciting things on the streets like birthdays. One of the ladies celebrated her 30th birthday and all was invited and what a wonderful time was had by all. There were about 20 people at most and an awesome chicken braai was enjoyed by all and chocolate cake was cut for the home journey

Prayer on the streets

1.      Visiting the streets is not only to give blankets and food but also to share the gospel of Jesus Christ.  TLC Outreach Projects is all about Mathew 25.35-40. The lost and the homeless also deserve a second chance just as we have. Praying for the guys on the street is usually us asking them and that’s when they make requests for prayer either for their children, husbands or wives, mothers or fathers. Some also ask for healing  as HIV and Aids and TB is a growing epidemic on the streets

Local get together

1.      If the weather allows then we will normally find a group of youngsters gathering together behind one of the local shopping centres catching up on the latest goings on, on the streets before going their separate ways to scurrel (go through the local bins to find what they can use or sell for scrap

Enjoying the beany and blankets

1.      Beany , something to eat and a blanket always brings a smile to the homeless. For us as the volunteers it always brings joy to our hearts to help those on the street
